WASHINGTON, D.C, DECEMBER 30, 2023 – The Euro-American Women’s Council (EAWC) hosted its annual renowned Global “Goddess Artemis Awards” on December 14, 2023, at the U.S Congress in Washington D.C. The event brought together eminent individuals of international scope, shining a spotlight on exceptional accomplishments in business, politics, civil rights, medicine, sports, academia, and science. These achievements were recognized for their enduring impact on societies at both national and international levels. The theme of the Event was “The Return of the Parthenon Marble Sculptures” from England to Greece. EAWC Founder, President, and Chief Executive Officer Loula Loi Alafoyiannis, proposed a new resolution on the Return of the Parthenon Marble Sculptures, which was unanimously voted by EAWC members. The “Goddess Artemis Awards” Ceremony commenced with performances of the National Anthem of the U.S.A. and performances by the world-renowned Greek-American pop recording artist Angelina Alexon, as well as the National Anthem of Greece and songs by Soprano Ariadne Anna. An introduction followed by EAWC Founder & President Loula Loi-Alafoyiannis and by the Mistress of Ceremony Yin Long, Chairwoman of the NJ Chinese-American Chamber of Commerce, followed by the opening remarks from Honorable US Congressman of Florida Gus Billirakis, Honorable US Congressman of Maryland John P. Sarbanes, and the Honorable US Congresswoman of New York Nicole Malliotakis. The Honorable US Congresswoman (1993 – 2023), Carolyn B. Maloney joined the awards ceremony remotely and spoke about the Reunification of the of the Parthenon Marbles. Mrs Maloney is also known as “Bouboulina” for her continued support of the National Issues of Greece and Cyprus. A Special Remote appearance was followed by Mrs. Mimi Denisi, Renowned Greek Actress, Director and Producer, who also made a poignant speech on the Reunification of the Parthenon Marbles. During the Awards Ceremony Mrs. Loula Loi-Alafoyiannis called for a resolution for the return of the Parthenon Sculptures to its rightful owners, which was unanimously voted for by EAWC members. The distinguished awardees included Dr. Stamatios Krimigis, a Greek-American scientist in space exploration and Head Emeritus of the Space Department, who was honored with the American Flag, presented to him by the Honorable US Congressman from Maryland, John P Sarbanes; The Honorable Nicole Malliotakis, the U.S. representative for New York’s 11th congressional district since 2021; Lakshan Bibi, an activist for the Preservation and Indigenous Peoples Rights of the Kalasha Tribe in Pakistan; Philip Christopher, President of PSEKA and the Pancyprian Association, recipient of both the American Flag and The Goddess Artemis Award, which were presented to him by the Honorable Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis; The Honourable Dr. Dionyssia-Theodora Avgerinopoulou, Member of the Hellenic Parliament; Nektarios Polychroniou, a lawyer and businessman, Founder of NJP Investments Greece; James J.D. Luce, President of Orphans International Worldwide; Miltiades Mitsias, professor at NYU Dental School, dentist and implantologist, who received both the American Flag and the Goddess Artemis Award from Honorable US Congressman of Maryland, John P. Sarbanes; Nikos Letsios, Director of Operations at Kia of Huntington and Archon of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople, received both the American Flag and the Goddess Artemis Award from Honorable US Congressman of Florida, Gus Bilirakis; Kyriaki Steniotis, businesswoman and founding member of Taste Control, providing food for diabetics, received both the American Flag and the Goddess Artemis Award from Honorable US Congressman of Florida, Gus Bilirakis; Vasileios Steniotis, a businessman and founding member of Taste Control, also providing food for diabetics, received both the American Flag and the Goddess Artemis Award from Honorable US Congressman of Florida, Gus Bilirakis; and Tasos Korossis, renowned Hairstylist & founder of Korossis de Grece. During the Round Table Discussion leading up to the Awards Ceremony, Maria Eluisa Stavaras introduced “The Hope Runners Association.” This Organization is committed to ensuring the inclusive involvement of individuals with disabilities in road races, achieved through the use of running chairs, specifically in Greece. Presenting a perspective from the younger generation, 12-year-old Emmanuel Mitsias gave a speech highlighting the common Greek-American values instilled through his education at the Hellenic-American Educational Foundation, Athens College. In her closing remarks, Mrs. Loula Loi-Alafoyiannis emphasized: “Great things happen when many people, from all of life’s venues and across all demographics and nations, come together, aligned with and guided by the values of excellence, unity, and respect.
